Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TeacherHunt ("TeacherHunt", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website and mobile apps (together, the "Platform"). TeacherHunt is a teaching-only hiring platform that connects teachers with coaching institutes and schools across India. By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy.
TeacherHunt is free for everyone. We do not charge teachers or institutes any fees, at any point. This Policy is written to be clear and to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP).
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run a teaching-focused hiring platform:
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number, role (teacher or institute), and password (managed securely through Firebase Authentication; we never see your raw password).
- Teacher profile: subjects, boards, classes, exams, languages, education, work experience, teaching certifications, student results, competitive exams you have cleared, expected salary, preferred locations, a profile photo, an optional resume, and an optional demo-lecture link.
- Institute profile: institute name, contact person, phone, type, location, size, website, logo, and optional GST or PAN details you choose to add.
- Activity: jobs you post or apply to, application status, match results, and notifications.
- Technical data: device type, app version, and basic log data needed to operate and secure the Platform.
2. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and profile.
- To match teachers to jobs and show a match score and gaps to both sides.
- To let an institute see an applicant's profile and contact details when, and only when, that teacher applies to that institute's job.
- To send you transactional and status notifications (for example, application viewed, shortlisted, or a new applicant) by in-app alerts and email.
- To review and moderate job posts and keep the Platform safe from spam and misuse.
- To improve the Platform and understand how it is used.
3. Consent to related opportunities
By creating an account, you consent to TeacherHunt contacting you, and to TeacherHunt sharing your contact details with carefully selected education partners, about related education, teaching, and mentorship opportunities that may interest you. You can opt out of these communications at any time by contacting us at the address below. This does not affect the core hiring function of the Platform.
4. How we share information
- With institutes you apply to: when you apply to a job, that institute sees your profile, resume, and phone number so they can contact you directly. Contact happens off the Platform, usually by phone.
- With teachers who apply to you: if you are an institute, you see the profiles and contact details of teachers who apply to your jobs.
- With service providers: hosting, database, and email-delivery providers that operate the Platform on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- With education partners: as described in Section 3, and only in that limited context.
- When required by law: to comply with legal obligations or protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform. You may ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time, subject to any legal record-keeping we are required to maintain.
6. Security
Authentication is handled by Google Firebase. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on secured servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to access, correct, and update your information, to withdraw consent, and to request deletion of your personal data. You can edit most of your information directly in your profile, or contact us to exercise any of these rights or to raise a grievance.
8. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
10. Contact us
For any privacy question, request, or grievance, contact our Grievance Officer at contact@teacherhunt.in. We will respond within the timelines required by law.
